Pre Diabetes

Pre- Diabetes
Every human being carries sugar in his/her blood in the form of Blood glucose. The food that we eat is assimilated and converted into blood glucose and absorbed in the blood stream. This blood glucose is the form of energy that is used up by all the organs of our body. The blood glucose in the body is burnt up by the body for performing all the activities – voluntary as well as involuntary activities.
A healthy human being is able to maintain the blood glucose levels naturally upto healthy prescribed levels by natural biological mechanisms.
Blood Glucose Level is the amount of glucose present in a unit of blood of an individual at a given time and is measured as milligrams of glucose present in a deciliter of blood or mg/dL. The measurement is done normally twice – once in the morning after fasting overnight and two hours after having a meal also called PP. The fasting blood glucose levels are considered to be normal or healthy if the blood glucose level is 100mg/dL or less whereas the blood glucose levels of a healthy person after meals should be between 100-120 mg/dL.
If the blood glucose levels are slightly more than the above limits the person can be considered to be in the pre-diabetes stages where the person is in the early stages of diabetes and if detected in time can be a big advantage in managing blood glucose levels comfortably and delaying the onset of this deadly disease. Sometimes this disease is also known as silent killer because of its nature. Diabetes is a disease that is connected with the increase in the blood glucose levels but can affect all vital organs as the blood is supplied to all these organs.
